ABATE 1 Promotes Motorcycle Safety Month with advertisements on CAT buses
By Ellie Wilson As most of you know May is officially Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Arkansas as proclaimed by Governor Mike Beebe. There are many people working to make people more aware of the number of motorcyclist and the safety issues involved with sharing the road with motorcycles. ABATE #1 took things a step further by purchasing advertising on two CAT buses promoting motorcycle awareness and safety. The message will not only be seen in the month of May but into June, July and August. After the success of advertising the ABATE #1 Swap Meet on buses Sherry Gambrell stated that it was a natural to place these new messages on buses as well. Tuesday May 6th was an important day for ABATE #1 and motorcyclist in Arkansas as the “public unveiling” of the buses with the biker message were publicly acknowledged. Wally Brennan, ABATE #1 President, Rodney Farley, ABATE State Chairman, Smokey Joe Mesenheimer, Tom & Sherry Weewer with Doug & Sherry Gambrell all attended the event. As you know any motorcycle event depends on the weather and the weather did not cooperate. While the attendees were enthusiastic the anticipated crowd was a little thinner than hoped for. The spirits of those in attendance were not damped by the rain. Check out the photos of the event in our gallery. All motorcyclists raise awareness when we ride, when we talk to others about our motorcycles and our adventures. Be sure and mention the signs on the buses to others so they can not only look out for motorcycles but for the signs as well. Please thank those at ABATE #1 for taking the time and funds to help get the word out.
